If you can’t eat a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, you may need supplements. So how should the right fish oil selection be?
- Preference should be given to fish oil in triglyceride form with higher bioavailability. The triglyceride form is 3 times more effective than the ethyl ester form.
- One of the important points when choosing fish oil is EPA and DHA. The minimum amount of EPA+DHA should be around 500 mg and 1000 mg if possible.
- EPA/DHA ratio should be 3/2 and multiples. Make sure that fish oil does not contain mercury, lead and other heavy metals. Therefore, the product must comply with IFOS (International Fish Oil Standard).
